YouTube is an area that I really want to focus on with my business. Uploading video has never been easier. This YouTube thing is really taking off Correction – it’s MASSIVE!
There are currently over 1 billion users. Many people still like to consume content by reading, more and more are listening these days, and watching has just exploded!
If you plan on uploading videos, I recommend creating a YouTube channel. You can still upload videos to Facebook and other social media channels, but it is nice to have them stored in one place so your audience can consume as much as they want. It acts like a search engine too, and is a great way to get discovered.
eHow has an excellent article about how to do this. Click here for details.
Top 3 YouTube Tips For Newbies
- Complete profile – After you have created a channel, provide additional information under the “About” tab on the channel page. You can hover under “Description” and add information by clicking the pencil on the far right. You can also add an email address, and other social media links under “About”. Do the same as above when adding information.
- Give specific details on video descriptions – Give as detailed descriptions as you want with links back to websites, social media profiles etc. Also include tags relevant to post to increase the chances of showing up in YouTube searches. Make sure to include the category the video is in too. Just click the pencil icon under the video to update all information.
- DO NOT strive for perfection – I tried that with some of my first videos. Bad idea You may try to record something 5, 10, 15 times. Heck you may never reach perfection and waste so much time! People connect with authentic people. So if your videos have a few little mistakes, or kids running in the room or whatever, that is totally awesome!
